Osama bin Laden's_ Goals_ “Many Americans seem to think that bin Laden is just a violent cult leader. But the truth is that he is tapping into a minority Islamic tradition with a wide following and a deep history.”
-Michael Doran, professor of Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University
Osama bin Laden's basic argument is that Muslims in the Middle East are currently suffering from political, social and economic deprivation because their governments do not follow Sharia law which is the only law can make Muslim world better. However, because their rulers have failed to do it, he no longer considers them to be truly Muslim. He believes Afghanistan under the rule of Mullah Omar’s Taliban was “the only Islamic country” in the Muslim world. Therefore, he attacks the United States and some other non-Muslim states. He has also called Americans as “reject the immoral acts of fornication and homosexuality, intoxicants, gambling, and usury” in the letter to U.S. All reports indicate that he isn’t much of an original thinker — he is neither a religious scholar nor a political philosopher. Instead, he has tapped into a fully-formed tradition which has given him all the ideological tools he needs to both explain current problems and offer a solution.
World’s Reactions toOsama’s Actions_ The United States responded to the attacks of September 11th by launching the War on Terrorism. It invaded Afghanistan to depose the Taliban, who had harbored al-Qaeda terrorists. The United States also enacted the USA PATRIOT Act. Many other countries also strengthened their anti-terrorism legislation and expanded law enforcement powers. Some American stock exchanges stayed closed for the rest of the week following the attack and posted enormous losses upon reopening, especially in the airline and insurance industries.
Economically, the destruction of billions of dollars worth of office space caused serious damage to the economy of Lower Manhattan. However, the USA is not the only place that had an economic issue after these attacks. Indeed, a lot of countries around the world took many decisions to prevent terrorism, especially in airports and all kind of transport permitting to enter or to leave a territory and it cost a lot to every governments and still costs money to keep all the plans alive. What also costs a lot is all of the military spending that the USA government and gov of other countries has to pay, because of the attacks planned by Osama Bin Laden.
Socially, there are many problems caused by terror, especially after September 11 Attacks. Even though the main target for the Osama Bin Laden is U.S., but many other countries are also trying to prevent their countries by strengthen the protection. Globally, most of the countries are strained with terrorists. The one of examples that the governments do to prevent is listening the phone callings. When the people hear something related to terror, then it will be easy to catch the criminal. However, people have complained this because they think it violates person’s privacy. However, the governments are continuing listening to prepare for the sudden terror.
